This letter is to serve as a recommendation and to highlight the abilities of ACTION Sport Development (ASD]. The City of Plymouth, Parks and Recreation Department went through a formal bid process to hire a professional organization to perform design and construction administration services for the Plymouth Skate Park in 2011. ASD was selected because of the exceptional skate park design they submitted, their extensive design experience, numerous positive recommendations and their willingness to work with our team to ensure a successful project.
ASD served as the skate park designer and consultant for the City of Plymouth from August 2011-October 2011. ASD provided a master plan with complete construction documents and site renderings. Additionally, the project required ASD to provide bid documents, assistance and review throughout the bid process and construction administration support during the construction process. The end result was a high quality skate park, built on-time and on-budget in less than 90 days, that is a premier skateboarding destination for the metro area.
We are delighted with our selection of ASD for our skate park project. It was a pleasure working with Mike and his staff. ASD provided Plymouth a high level of industry knowledge, enthusiasm, technical skill, flexibility, customer service and professionalism. If I can provide you with any further information or details, please don't hesitate to contact me.

One month ago today, the Fort Bragg Skate Park opened for operation – a significant occasion the community had been working toward for over twenty years. In attendance were Mike McIntyre and Kanten Russell of ACTION Sport Development, LLC. The fact that Mike and Kanten traveled the length of California at their own expense to join us for the opening of the park is testimony to their dedication and their interest in the communities for which they work. At the Ribbon Cutting, Mike delivered a brief but meaningful speech that demonstrated his understanding of governmental process and the significance of capital projects, especially for a small city. Mike and Kanten worked with us on the project from the beginning. They won the job through two rounds of highly competitive proposal review the first for the conceptual design and public process, the second for the engineering/construction drawings and construction management. In each phase they competed against other firms and designers that I know from extensive research are among the best in the business. The City of Fort Bragg is pleased to have chosen Mike and Kanten; they burned the midnight oil, they finessed troublesome site issues, they collaborated well with the construction crew and City staff. The bottom line is that they delivered their work professionally, on time and on budget. The skateboarders love the facility and it is packed every day.

I am writing with confidence to recommend Michael McIntyre, RLA for your skate park project. Michael worked directly with Park City’s Parks Department, Recreation Department and Recreation Advisory Board on the skateboard park project. Michael participated in a very unique process including site visits to his existing park designs in Arizona; he conducted presentations to the Park City Planning Commission, and worked with the Arts Commission on integrating public art into the skate park.
Michael conducted the public facilitation and communication with the City Planners and the community. Michael produced the design concepts, final design, as well as oversaw the construction documentation process and performed on site construction observation. The result was a world class facility on which the community is extremely proud. Recently the City made an addition to the park to include a street plaza where, once again we worked with Michael to achieve the goals set forth through a series of community, Commission and Council meetings. The Park City Skatepark is an important asset to Park City as a World Class Resort Community. The City of Park City, Utah would have no hesitation hiring Michael McIntyre, RLA, President currently of ASD to future projects that require expertise in skate park design and action sport development.

I have been working with, Michael McIntyre, RLA for over 12 years and highly recommend him for any project that includes a skate park, a BMX park / track or anything involved in action sports. His knowledge and commitment to our industry is exceptional. Mike is well versed in every aspect of action sports parks including master planning, community workshops, site development, construction standards and of course cutting edge design.
In the 16 years that I have been working on skate parks I have only received rave reviews from Mike’s previous and current clients and end users of his parks. He has designed parks all over the world and always hasbeen at the fore-front of our industry. He is known for designing parks unique to communities, was a leader in developing “spots” as well as plazas and integrating BMX into parks and plazas.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions and I hope you enjoy working with Mike as much as I have.

This letter is to recommend Kanten Russell and Mike McIntyre, RLA of Action Sport Development, LLC. for consideration of any wheel friendly project you may have under consideration. I have had the pleasure of working with these two gentlemen at the San Diego County Department of Parks and Recreation. They have both proven to be dedicated, hard working professionals in their business endeavors with respect to the sport of skateboarding and wheel friendly facility design. As the Design consultants for the Lakeside Community Skate Park Concept Design Project, Kanten and Mike provided a superior services product and a dedication to getting the project done under strict timeline constraints. Their abilities to effectively communicate with the public added greatly to the design portion of the project success. ASD is an asset to our organization putting forth our Design team in a positive light to the community we serve. Please consider ASD as a firm who are great team players and a pleasure to work with.

The City of Glendale Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department went through an extensive recruitment process to hire a skate park/landscape architect, to perform planning and design services for the Glendale Skate Park in 2001. Mike Mcintyre, RLA was hired because of his extensive body of successful design work and his unique designs that complement the surrounding environments. Mike’s personal experience as a “skate boarding” enthusiasts, also allowed his knowledge of the “nuts and bolts”, things that work, to not be interpreted by another designer, so he could uniquely devote his energies to implementing a classic design for our facility.
He has mastered the public input process and conducted many successful workshops on our behalf, to solicit user input, as well as communicate design elements and build consensus with the surrounding community. This was very critical for us, as other designers and proposed projects had been “shelved”, due to unfavorable community perception.
Mike had many site challenges posed to him, with our facility, and he was able to provide an extremely successful design in spite of these limitations (addressing underground utilities involving primary electrical duct banks and an 18 inch diameter high pressure gas line). The environmental restrictions were dealt with through his design, (protected oaks and indigenous trees), and the facilities are thriving and being enjoyed as some our most intensely used facilities in this City. We are very pleased and proud of our facilities that Mike McIntyre has delivered to us and look forward to future opportunities to work with him again.

The American Bicycle Association (ABA), the largest sanctioning organization in the World of BMX racing and now an Olympic Sport needed several BMX Race Tracks transformed into CAD Construction Documents and Specifications to meet City submittal requirements for track construction.
ABA had the opportunity to work with Mike McIntyre, RLA, President currently of ACTION Sport Development, LLC., Carlsbad, CA on creating guideline layouts for our dirt profile jumps, widths, starting gates, towers, lighting and drainage plans over the past eight years.
The process for design guideline development made it a lot easier since Mike McIntyre was a former ABA BMX member who raced for years (CAL-15) and is a Registered Landscape Architect. I am writing with confidence to recommend Mike McIntyre based on our working relationship and experience. I can tell you that Mike McIntyre, RLA is a solid, innovative designer, who can easily bridge the gap between the demands of the ABA sanctioning requirements, site selection, planning, design and construction process.
Presently, Mike McIntyre, RLA, President of ASD is working with ABA to further refine our guidelines for sanctioning requirements related to sizing, materials and equipment on a ongoing basis…………..
